Testing and Diagnosis for UTI
To diagnose a UTI, we performa urine test. Accurate collection and evaluation of urine are crucial for a reliable diagnosis. At Kids 1st Urgent Care:
- We will test your child's urine at your home and provide immediate preliminary results.
- The urine sample is then sent to a laboratory for a urine culture, which identifies any bacteria present, their concentration, and the most effective antibiotics for treatment. This culture typically takes one to two days to process.
Treatment for UTI
Our approach to treating UTIs is individualized based on your child’s symptoms, age, and the specific results from the urine culture. Treatment plans may include:
- Antibiotics: To eradicate the bacteria causing the infection.
- Symptom Management: Addressing any discomfort or additional symptoms.
We will discuss the best management strategies during your visit and provide follow-up care based on the urine culture results. If necessary, we will adjust the treatment plan to ensure the most effective care for your child
